“Family Safari”.

Designed around a pace that children can comfortably manage, with a private vehicle and therefore no minimum age.

🧭

“What It’s Like”.

Shorter driving days, a private 4x4 with no minimum age, family rooms or connecting tents, flexible mealtimes, and pools where children can burn off energy. Guides who know how to engage younger travellers, encouraging them to observe and ask questions.

🎯

“Best For”.

Families with children of almost any age. The northern circuit works best: shorter drives, abundant wildlife, and lodges accustomed to welcoming younger travellers.

🛏️

“Where You’ll Stay”.

Lodges and camps with family-friendly spaces, pools and room to move — some offer junior-ranger activities, early children’s meals and babysitting. With a private vehicle, you set the pace.

💡

“Good to Know”.

Many camps set a minimum age (often 6 or 12) for shared vehicles and walking activities; a private vehicle removes that restriction. Talk to your doctor early about malaria precautions for children. Two or three parks are more than enough — resist the urge to add more.
